Exhibition of photographs by brothers Brkan

.The exhibited photos are from private collections Badrov Gallery in Zagreb, and can be seen up to 6th August 2011. Brothers Anthony and Zvonimir Brkan from Zadar, are the most prominent 20th century photographers and one of the most important Croatian photographers who have marked the emergence of the modern Croatian photograph after 2 World War II. Syntagma «brothers Brkan» in Croatian visual culture is the concept of excellence and international success of Zadar and the Croatian post-war photography. It was founded in 1957.worldknown and recognized, an international photo biennial «The man and the sea» in a continuous duration up to the seventies of last century. Ante Brkan was born in 1918 in Veliko Jadrče. He was occupied with photography from an early age. His works were published in many local and foreign books and magazines. Together with his brother, he published in 1956. a book «Brothers Brkan: Photographs', and held a series of solo exhibitions in Zagreb, Zadar, Sibenik and Split. He has exhibited in over two hundred salons worldwide and received fifty different awards and recognitions. He joined Photo Club Zagreb 1953, and since 1964. he is honorary member of the Photo club Split. He is a member The Association of Artists of Applied Artsof Croatia since 1959, while in 1961, he became the master of photography of Yugoslavia and became Artist FIAP. Six years later he won the title of Excellence FIAP. He was a member of the Croatian Association of Artists in Zadar since its inception. He died in 2004. in Zadar.
