Ethnographic Museum

Ethnographic Museum Split, located right next to the Peristyle, the central square of the Palace, in building which itself has an exceptional cultural and historical and architectural importance, and upon presentation of very valuable ethnographic collections, which present us the former life of citizens of Split, the island people and farmers from Dalmatian hinterland, forms a unique cultural supplement during tour of Split. Namely, what makes this museum unique is the fact that the museum is located at the point where in 4th century were the imperial chamber, i.e. bedrooms of the Emperor Diocletian, as the most intimate part of the palace. The museum has a wide range of ethnographic content from Dalmatia, but also other cultural areas. The museum collects besides the originals,the contemporary applications of traditional heritage. It represent also contemporary popular culture of living with traces of old foundations. It preserves and promotes folk heritage values, renewing them, and exhibits, promotes ethnograpy and ethnographic profession.
